Bug Description

Binary package hint: liferea

after upgrading from hardy to intrepid, liferea stopped working; a window seems to appear for a short time and then disappears again, with liferea having segfaulted

I created the core dump data contained in this bug report by creating a new test account, and starting liferea from that new account with no priori config

$ apt-cache policy liferea

Anyway this sounds like a xulrunner issue, if it's happening to you with yelp, ephy and liferea... (and it could be a powerpc specific bug).

For me, they work just fine.

yeah, otherwise more people would have spoken up I guess... :-)

on the other hand, firefox works just fine; it's just everything else
depending on xulrunner that seems broken on powerpc...

anything else I can do to help debugging/fixing this issue?

AFAIK liferea and yelp embed Xulrunner, while Firefox uses it directly, so that
could the explanation. Not sure about Epiphany though.

I'm opening a task for Xulrunner, let's see if some mozilla guy can look at this
issue.

To the mozilla guys:

bug 271807, bug #281146 and bug #273017 are crashes on startup on liferea, yelp and epiphany. The reporter says firefox works just fine, so I wonder whether this is an issue with the embedded API.

It's happening on powerpc for him. I can't reproduce it on x86.

I'd like to mention Bug #282703 while at it, as it might help debugging...

Is this still an issue? Could you please try with Jaunty?
