Bug Description

The 'Ubuntu Basic Server' task should be installed by default and not listed the list of tasksel tasks on the ubuntu server install, for "Default" server installation type.

Note that "virtual machine" installation does not install "Ubuntu Basic Server" by default, hence the option needs to still be visible in this case.

tasksel has a preseedable limit-tasks option, but I think it needs a hide-tasks option too; I don't want to have to list all the *other* server tasks, and keep that up to date.

This bug was fixed in the package tasksel - 2.73ubuntu8

---------------
tasksel (2.73ubuntu8) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Move limit-tasks logic into a separate script to avoid having to start
up one debconf instance per task.
  * Add support for tasksel/force-tasks, to force a task to be installed on
fresh installs while still displaying the task menu (LP: #269040).

I just ran into this bug during the installation of Jaunty in a virtual environment. (ubuntu-server 9.04 - 32-bit, as 'minimal virtual machine'.) This should probably be reopened.

No, I don't think so - the purpose of the "minimal virtual machine"
option is to install an even more basic system, explicitly not including
the server task. As such, it makes sense for the server task to be a
visible option in that case rather than just being implicitly selected.

The "Basic Ubuntu server" task is appearing when installing from a 10.04 server CD (amd64) -- regression?

Confirmed this is happening on 10.04 (amd64) server install during a "virtual machine" installation task.

the "virtual machine" configuration does not install the "Basic server" by default, hence the option needs to be present.
