escaped characters in Java strings not recognized

Bug Description
the java.lang file only contains
<context id="string" style-ref="string" end-at-
<start>"</start>
<end>"</end>
</context>
Escaped double quotes are interpreted as end of string and any escape sequence is not highlighted. String highlighting in C produces correct results.
