Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

Using Intrepid Alpha 5 64 bit on AMD PC. This is a follow up to Bug #172890.
Sound Playback set to Autodetect. It's not possible to set and play system sounds as everything under the Sounds tab is greyed out. If Test is selected under devices a continuous audio tone is heard.

PS This also goes for kernel 2.6.27-3-generic, but I don't know how to link it against that.

Same on my amd64 system with 2.6.27-3.

In case it's relevant, when I run gnome-sound-properties it tells me:

(gnome-sound-properties:17284): sound-properties-WARNING **: Bad setup, install the freedesktop sound theme

Same thing over here - still no system sounds even with kernel 2.6.27-9-generic. It worked fine in Hardy; it stopped after the first kernel upgrade
