Bug Description

Hi, Ive a question for you (EEEPC 701 4g). I did a fresh install of ubuntu 8.04.1 , the complete suggested update, and the ran your script (everything yes except the kernel). Then I installed Netbook Remix acording the eeeuser wiki. After all these steps I found that the FN keys (Sleep, Wifi, Brightness, Sound) were misplaced for one key. Instead of starting in FN+1 , They start with FN+` . So Each key is misplaced by one space.

Can you give me a hand to correct these, maybe there is something wrong with a keyboard setting in GDM or something went wrong in the update?)

I did the acpi_listen for FN keys 1-8, FN-9 doesn´t output anything.

Yes, I do speak Spanish, I'm from Costa Rica (https://launchpad.net/~havok-cr). But keep speaking English please.
Before installing the NBR the functions keys worked fine? I could install NBR without problems on my 4G 701 without problems. Did you disabled compiz? Compiz is conflicting with NBR.

You can also try to reinstall the ACPI module. Type:

niceeepc manual

And then, type:

compile_acpi

And reboot.

Cheers.

Recompiling Acpi module did nothing. Keys are still misplaced, everything is working just one key to the left.

Im open to try or test anything....

Why I ask that? Because this bug make absolutely no sense. Not even in hardware. This eeePC is a localized version? For Argentina only?
Cheers.

Yes they worked fine. I dont have localizad version, it was my next step in the installation process.

If you think that a clean installation would help you debug, I would go ahead.

This is going to be my roadmap.

Installation of ubuntu 8.04.1
Complete Update (through udapte manager)
FSTAB and udev rules mod
Niceeepc script
Netbook Remix according eeeuser wiki

Thanks,

JIS

Hi, I did a fresh install and I got the same result.

Fresh install of ubuntu 8.04.1
Complete Update
Niceeepc Script (without auto login for user, password ask after resume , and suggested software)

Now its really puzzling me, could it be something new that was pushed through the ubuntu update?

Cheers,

JIS

Solved, It was apparently a problem that emerged with some power failure or something similar.

I removed the power cord and battery, pressed the power button for 4 seconds and thats it.

To find out that it was a hardware issue I used "xev" to test out.

Thanks Carlos, and good luck with 1.3

Saludos

Changing the status to Won't Fix.
This a ASUS eeePC hardware/BIOS bug and not NiceeePC script bug.
Anyway, thanks to locoocol for the fix.
