Bug Description

I use Ubuntu hardy with the latest patches. i messed around with my nvidia drives and after a reboot i got the bulletproof x rescue display. i didn't need it, because i just had to overwrite the xorg.conf with an older one. i tried to switch to the 1st text console with ctr+alt+F1 but then the screen just goes blank. then every ctr+alt+Fxx combination doesn't work anymore, i don't even get the screen from bulletproof x back. i thought maybe only the display is blocked but after pressing ctrl+alt+F1 again and blindly login in i tried to run some commands but this didn't work.

i had to restart the whole system with ctrl+alt+delete and start the recovery single mode, replace my xorg.conf, reboot -> works fine. but this is really annoying and i can reproduce it. attached is the log file when bulletproof x was running

I'm available for further investigations.

bulletproof-x does nothing which could affect the virtual terminals (it's a very trivial set of bash scripts), so my guess is that it's something to do with your video driver or the kernel.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
