most icons & menu items ghosted

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I'm using Firefox 3 Beta 5 on a Ubuntu 8.04 system.

After starting Firefox:
- no page is shown in the main screen or url address bar
- all buttons but the homepage button are ghosted (and can not be selected)
- the home button directs to the Firefox start google page, not the one set in preferences
- some menu items are ghosted as well
- the available items do work
- all installed add-ons seem to work, except Foxmarks and all bookmarks are unavailable, nor can bookmarks be added
- I can browse the internet using the url address bar but it doesnot update to the new address after clicking a link

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Now I am using a new Firefox version and can not reproduce the issue.
I propose to close it.
