Bug Description

I downloaded and installed the flash plugin, but the problem is still there. When I tried the following link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlfmvwxxgHM the video window flashed and then nothing. I also tried another link, with the same results. Is there some setting I need to check?

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When I attempt to load a video clip in Yahoo, I get the screen template, but there isn't any information displayed. No video clip shows up, nor is there any content in the area around the playback area, such as other video clips of interest. It works fine in Windows. I believe I'm using UBUNTU 8.04 This is the link I was using: http://l.yimg.com/cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/ver/267.0/popup-2008-07-25-0726/skins/49750.jpg

In firefox, go to tools->addons. Click on the plugins tab. It should show up on that list somewhere.

Or, the problem could be that the link is to a JPEG file...

Thanks for checking up on me. Actually I reinstalled Ubuntu just today. I had mistakenly deleted the Ubuntu partition on my HD and couldn't even boot up Vista. So in desperation I reinstalled the Ubuntu OS and it restored everything. Then I had to install the flash plugins to Firefox and that did the trick! I surmise that previously there was some glitch in the plugin that prevented the playback of video clips. This was strange, because I had surely installed and reinstalled the flash plugins to no avail. Anyway all's well that ends well. Thanks again.

Joe

Kapchoi, try uninstalling and reinstalling Flash then. Or try with a new user to see if it's your Firefox configuration.

I would agree that this would be a suplicate of bug #260032 the only issue i have with that is on bug #260032 it only states problem on dell.com
I will package flash 10 for hardy in my PPA and will post info here for you to test to see if it helps. I suggest reinstall flashplugin-nonfree first. I should be done with it this up comming week as long as i get done with a couple of other packages.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash, both versions 9 and 10 etc..., but still same problem. Weird because I don't have this problem on my laptop. For now I'm using Opera to view pages with flash and everything else with Firefox.
