Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Today I've noticed that my Evolution 2.22.3.1 from Ubuntu Hardy badly displays an URL
with an ampersand sign ('&') in the middle.

Please look at my attached screenshot. You can see strange fuzzy 'J' letter instead of
an ampersand and a name of parameter (top red border). However, the URL displayed
on "status" bar seems to be OK (bottom border).

does that happens with all the messages containing an & in the url? i don't see that behavior here, to be confirmed by someone else, also reassigning to gtkhtml.

Hi Pablo,

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

I've done more tests and it seems that it's not a problem with & in
the URL at all. It's rather issue only with &image. Sorry for confusing
bug report title :)

Please try with following examples to see the bug:

http://www.example.com/index.php?foo=1&bar=2&baz=3

http://www.domain.org/index.php?text=1&image=2&video=3

My Evolution displays the first URL in proper way. The second URL
is displayed badly.

My best regards,

Pawel

Ups! I miscalled your name... My apologies.

I saw Pedro, but I thought Pablo, because it's the same name like mine.
Pedro is propably Spanish version of Peter :)

Hello Sebastien,

I don't remember about it, so probably I didn't do any change
of my font settings.

I can confirm now that the issue occurs also on my laptop with
the same Ubuntu release. Before I noticed the bug on my workstation.

Hi Pedro,

Thanks for your feedback! I can try to do it later, because now I'm too
busy to read that instructions, to check the GNOME Bugzilla and to
report the bug if it's not reported yet.

BTW, I don't Ubuntu bug reporting policy. I was thinking that Ubuntu
users should report noticed bugs at Launchpad and Ubuntu maintainers
fix them if they can to do it and there are Ubuntu related bugs
or forward the reports to upstream if there are external bugs.

My best regards,

Pawel

the ubuntu bug triager send the bug upstream when it has enough informations to be worked or when they can trigger the issue to reply to upstream comment, that's not the case there so somebody having the bug should sent it to GNOME

Hello Sebastien,
I've not upgraded my Intrepid to Jaunty yet. I'm going to do it soon.

I can see that the bug still occures in Intrepid. I have the following packages:

evolution 2.24.3-0ubuntu1
libgtkhtml2-0 2.11.1-2ubuntu1
libgtkhtml3.14-19 1:3.24.1.1-0ubuntu1

Thanks for the report Paweł Tęcza , It has been a long time without any comment or a duplicate in this bug report and It is possible that the bug has been fixed. May you please try to reproduce it with the latest Stable Release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal and add the respective comments to the report? You can learn how to get that release at http://www.ubuntu.com/download . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Pedro, thank you very much for your interest and your time! I don't use Ubuntu now. But you can close that bug report, because my Evolution 2.32.3-1 on Debian wheezy/sid box shows me properly such URLs.
