Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Changed in firefox-3.0:

Ubuntu 9.04

From Google. Everything on Firefox cookies is on.

Dell Dimension 9100

Yes, please let me know. I am writing this on my Dell Dimension 9100
and it says at the top of this webpage cookies must be turned on.
And they must be, because you see me writing. Yet, Google still says
they are turned off.

So, it seems that, if I haven't overlooked something simple (It is always the simple things)
there may be a bug in 9.04

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

Now everything works fine. I cannot say how it got rectified, however, upgrades would have done it.
