Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Going into pidgin / Tools / Privacy, select ICQ. It will be set to "Block only the users below", which is wide open to spamming. Change this to "Allow only the users on my buddy list" and it will stay that way for the session, but revert back after restart or reboot.

Hardy Heron 8.04.1, fully patched.

ken@neptune:~$ apt-cache policy pidgin

Thanks for your bug report, but this bug is not an ubuntu bug, but a backport.
Closing the ubuntu bug as it is working correctly in intrepid.

This is not a backport request at all. Marking invalid against Hardy Backports.

Kenneth: Pidgin 2.5.0 has now been released. Could you please test if the problem still exists in this latest version? This version is currently in Intrepid, and should be in hardy-backports soon (bug 260070). Thanks in advance.

Hew - I just noticed that you closed the hardy-backports task on this one and opened a pidgin task instead. In this case, it was valid against hardy-backports because the bug is reported against the backported version of Pidgin. Bugs against backported packages should be opened against the relevant *-backports project, instead of the normal Ubuntu source package.
