Same problem here after the latest update: I can't switch tabs with mouse (Ctrl+Tab works) and there's no way to enter an URL (the field doesn't accept enter and the arrow icon is not working). Only way to enter URL's is to use search engine such as Google.

I just found out that search (from page) functionality (from menu or by pressing Ctrl+F) is also broken.

I can switch tabs with mouse but CAN'T enter a url in the address bar, hit enterbecause I get a page of errors when I do. I have to google the website and click on it manually. I can highlight text I want to copy, then go up and hit "edit" then "copy" then go to where I want it and hit "edit" and "paste"...I hope this gets fixed..thanks cheryl

I just realized that I failed to restart Firefox properly after the latest update and there was a "zombie" process running. After I killed that process and started a new Firefox instance, everything was working again. Sorry for my groundless comments above.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

This is no longer an issue for me. Our company has upgraded most of the Ubuntu workstations to 8.10 without any problems with FX.
