kde4 menu duplicated application entries

Bug Description

I'm using kubuntu 8.10 upgraded from gutsy some time ago.

The default new kde4 menu has duplicated entries for some programs when using the search function. One entry has the correct icon and description. The other one has a default application icon and ends with .desktop.
The second entry should not be shown.

Outside of the default included menus (Kickoff and Classic), i.e. Lancelot and KDE Menu Editor, this bug seems to be a lot more pervasive; the duplicate entries show up all the time, not only when searching, and exist for the majority of apps. Worse than the clutter this causes, clicking on the "wrong" entry opens the .desktop file in Kate instead of actually launching the application.

I confirm this bug. It shows up after upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10
