Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
At two points during installation (immediately after keyboard selection, and again during "Configuring hardware" near the end), ubiquity seems to run depmod in the live CD environment. This scans all of the kernel modules on the CD, which takes quite some time and seems unnecessary. depmod is also called once in /target, which is reasonably fast and probably a good idea.

The first is partman. I'm not sure what the second is about. Perhaps the right answer is to put a stub depmod in /usr/lib/ ubiquity/ compat.
