Bug Description
Binary package hint: ekiga
I am running Ubuntu 8.04 (32-bit) on an HP DV1000 Laptop.
I am running the v2.0.12-0ubuntu2 version of Ekiga.
When I go through the configuration druid, everything works fine. The audio test passes using the default audio device and there is no problem hearing myself on the 4-second echo. I am using the ALSA manager.
However, when I go to use the software, the audio sliders are stuck to the left which means the audio levels are both zero.
If I call <email address hidden>, it says that I am connected, but I don't hear anything. I assume I am connected. The connected icon says I am connected until I manually disconnect. The log says that the "Local user cleared the call." It says "Registered Accounts: 1" so I think my diamondcard.us account is all set.
Expected behavior: Audio sliders go to desired location, audio can be heard.
What happened: Audio sliders go back to zero after letting go of mouse.

I happens the same to me with Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H, and before it was the same on an Asus A8V-MX.
