Guys. First rule of connection errors in ANY application: Check if the server is available.

http://opensubtitles.com/ is down. It's been down for a good part of the day.

This is the reason you're not logged in. This is the reason you can't log in.

It's not a bug.

The opensubtitles.org admin moved his servers yesterday, he's fixing the subdownloader login right now.

Anyway this bug reminds me that I have to show a Dialog box when the login has an error showing the error cause and a button to try to reconnect.

Hi

I am using the 2.0.9.3 version, and the latest 1½ month I can't log into my account by using the software.
But if I am going direct to the website; http://www.opensubtitles.org, there is no problems.

Can somebody please help me - it is not nice to have a license key to a software that is not working.......8O(

Right now the server is down too.

We are sorry but the software has no problems, the problem is of the server
which does not belong to us.

Please retry when it will be online again.

Best Regards.
Ivan.

Hi, I convinced the admin of www.opensubtitle.org to at least allow registered users to login.

Please retry to login into SubDownloader with your user/password that you can get from www.opensubtitles.org , the admin has enabled only for registered users to login.
Anonymous users (blank user/password) login will be disabled until he gets new server by next week.

Best Regards.

The problem is due to the xml-rpc server was changed.

Change DEFAULT_OSDB_SERVER in file /usr/share/subdownloader/modules/SDService.py to

I opened the file with gedit, i found the DEFAULT_OSDB_SERVER line in the script, I replaced it to "http://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc" but I cant save the changes because I have no permission, it says that im not the owner of the file, and the file is only made for reading...!
How can I change it then ??

Thank you !

To open a file with root permissions, open the terminal (inside the accessories menu) and type:

sudo gedit /usr/share/subdownloader/modules/SDService.py <- asks for your user password in the terminal

or

gksudo gedit /usr/share/subdownloader/modules/SDService.py <- asks for your user password in a friendly way :)
