Bug Description
Binary package hint: xubuntu-desktop
I intalled XFCE / the Xubuntu desktop from regular Gnome Ubuntu. There, all my Windows partitions were shown in the "Places" menu (and other places besides). Clicking on the relevant entry, I could mount my NTFS partitions, and next, open them.
However, I do not see this functionality anywhere in the Xubuntu. I'm not sure if this is bug, or simply a lack of functionality, as there seem to be workaround ways to achieve the end. Nevertheless, this is a big problem, coming from Gnome or KDE Ubuntus. I believe other distros using XFCE do have automounts / GUI-based-mounting.
I am using Hardy (8.04)
The terminal command used from Ubuntu was something like: "sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude install xubuntu-desktop"
I saw the other two results with keywords [xubuntu, windows, partitions,
mount]. One of the two was this one. The reason I still filed this as a new
bug was because that referred to a beta, that too with a LiveCD. Moreover,
that was registered under the 'exo' package, while for me, it was a case of
installing it from a running, fully functional Ubuntu system. I thought the
two dynamics might be different.
If it still indeed is a duplicate, then it is my mistake.
In that case, shouldn't a pre-release bug have been fixed by now?
