Bug Description

Binary package hint: metacity

I have a wide screen. And when I maximise windows the drag bar at the top misrenders above 3349 pixels wide. It just seems to run out of picture on the right end. I can recreate this effect on small screens by pushing the window off the left edge and widening. I'm guessing this is a metacity bug, but it might be something else. I do not have compiz running. It does not happen with xfwm. I have attached a screenshot - the bit with import bisect is actually leftovers from another window.

Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04

metacity:
  Installed: 1:2.22.0-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1:2.22.0-0ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.22.0-0ubuntu4 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

It happens on these two drivers:

(II) Module nvidia: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"
        compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.0
        Module class: X.Org Video Driver

(II) LoadModule: "intel"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//intel_drv.so
(II) Module intel: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
        compiled for 1.4.0.90, module version = 2.2.1

Since this report have a long time without activity, could you check (if is possible) in latest version included in Karmic if this issue is still happening? Thanks in advance.

you could check too by following my how-to-recreate steps. I do not have
karmic installed, but a friend informs me that metacity on karmic still
has the same bug.

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME . Thanks in advance!

This might be fixed, in quick test I was not able to reproduce this.
