firefox crashes on hyperlinks

firefox 3 often crashes on the yahoo website when a link is clicked. this happens when i hit a headline link of the yahoo homepage and even when i tried to finish my launchpad registration. it's quite annoying!

i had a similar problem with the earlier version of ubuntu desktop but i'm running 8.04 now.

Hi Michael, thanks for using Ubuntu and taking the time to fill out this bug report! Could you let me know what distribution you are using (7.10 Gutsy, 8.04 Hardy, etc.), and your version of firefox by including the output of 'apt-cache policy firefox' run in a terminal.

And, when you talk about "the yahoo website" are you talking about the main www.yahoo.com page, or another page? And any links in particular?

i have been having problems with hyperlinking on many pages while using firefox 3. changing back to firefox 2 seems to have avoided this issue -- no crashes on my machine since. nvidia accelerated graphics driver is not enabled on my system and the nvidia-kernel-common 2005-1028+1ubuntu8 (hardy) package is installed. i have read something about problems with nvidia drivers that don't seem to have been resolved with respect to mouse behavior.

 Ubuntu 8.10 - the Intrepid Ibex and Firefox 3.0.5 is working great!

i had to upgrade to the latest version of ubuntu in order to make this issue disappear. i seem to remember flash was a problem on the older platform as well. flash was taking layered over one website menu but this is no longer an issue either. does this clarify?

i don't think the issue is actually invalid!

mspagnut.: Michael was right stting this to "invalid" because we don't know the real root cause or code change that resolved this problem, in which case we would have set it to "fix released".

What release were you seeing this on and what release fixed it? What version of Firefox did you see this happen on and what version fixed it?

Firefox 3 was causing problems for me with previous versions of ubuntu (8.04 and 7.10) on this computer. The operating system crashed fairly regularly on hyper-text links as i mentioned. I did contact firefox about this problem.
