Bug Description

Windows XP SP2, Inkscape 0.46

Write any longer text, choose a font, choose various sizes for some words, as well as various colours.

Select the whole text with ctrl+A, copy it, then paste it into a new Inkscape window. Only the font is kept, all the various colour and size formatting disappeared.

Inkscape should keep all the formatting informations when copy & pasting text.

I can't reproduce this on linux.

Could you test a development version on winXP? Improvements have been made to clipboard handling so this might have been resolved.

Can someone please see if this still persists with current SVN on Windows?

Confirmed with Windows XP, build 21167.
The pasted object is merged in a single svg:tspan element instead of one for each different part of the text. Thus, it doesn't keep modified fonts either.
Simple example attached.

Confirming on Ubuntu 14.04 and Inkscape 0.91. Copy and paste will not keep any text formatting. It's copying in plane text mode.

Pasting text that was selected using Text tool (first drag over formatted text and copy) loses all formatting for me also. I use italics a lot for Mathematics writing, and am unable to retain italics when copying and pasting text. I use windows 10 and Inkscape 0.92. Very frustrating.

@Geoff: Fix Committed means that this has been fixed. The fix is going to be available in Inkscape 0.93.

My apologies. That's great. Thanks for that.
