Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Firefox Crushes with Segmentation Fault Immediately *After* the download is completed (download does not fails). If it happens 2/3 time all the applications launched after the crush, fails to load. I have to restart the system to resolve the problem.

To repeat the problem, just download a file using the Firefox download manager,

Can you reproduce this bug with *ALL* your extensions disabled?

I suggest you move the firefox profile (~/.mozilla) and try to reproduce this.

Got it!
Prism was the problem. I've checked with all the extensions disabled first,
then enabled them one by one. Firefox crushed with Prism enabled. My Prism
version is 0.2 Maybe I should try with the later version

I can confirm both the bug and that disabling prism solves it.

Did you install the prism extention from the repos or from elsewhere? You can check using 'apt-cache policy prism'. The command to install it will be 'sudo apt-get install prism'

According to https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/236613/comments/13 prism packages from ubuntu repos don't cause issues with firefox in ubuntu.

Marking this bug as a duplicate of bug 236613

I use prism extension and it works very well, no issue. The problem was just
a corrupted profile as explained buy Mozilla FAQ.

Let's keep things straight here. There are two pieces of software out there that, as I understand it, do slightly different things. First, came the prism application. This is software is in the Ubuntu repositories and allows you to set up prism 'webapps' and is standalone from the browser. The second software is a Firefox extension. With this extension, you get a menu item added to firefox's tools menu that allows you to take the webpage you are on and convert it into a prism webapp.

Indeed, I have the ubuntu standalone prism package from the repos and it works fine. It is the prism extension installed from, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6665 , that causes the crash. The issue may be related to the fact that the application from the repos is prism 0.8 based and the extension is based (as far as I know) on 0.9. I have not tried to create a new profile to see if the extension works with a new one. Regardless, it is a bug IMHO.
