Bug Description
The reason is that LDFLAGS is set to -Wl,-Bsymbolic-
From the build log:
ld -Wl,-Bsymbolic-
ld: unrecognized option '-Wl,-Bsymbolic
ld: use the --help option for usage information

Seems like I was wrong. It will fail even if the default flags are blocked:
