Pidgin seg faults immediately

pidgin seg faults immediately after starting. The backtrace is attached.

I was able solve the problem by closing skype, which had been running while I was trying to start pidgin.

Pidgin shouldn't crash if skype is running. Can you still reproduce this bug? If so, please attach a fresh backtrace following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace.
Also tell us which version of pidgin (apt-cache policy pidgin) and Ubuntu you are using and the output from uname -a.
