Sorry for the late reply...

I think for now it looks OK. As we have more Malayalam fonts to choose from with this version, we may need to select a different font as default for the -core package. This should be decided by the community IMHO and can be adjusted later.

Swathanthra malayalam computing, The malayalam L10n group chooses
Rachana_04.ttf as a the Default Malyalam font. It is the font currently
used by the debian installer.

Also merging with ttf-indic-fonts in debian will solve the major
existing bugs in Malayalam rendering

OK, here is the adjusted patch, now Rachana_04.ttf has been moved to the ttf-indic-fonts-core package and therefor will be available in the default installation.
