Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

the ubiquity proposed mount point /windows doesn't show up in computer:/// , on Desktop and in Places menu

but it does show up in gnome-commander mounted partitions list

so I guess it's the problem of Nautilus
in case "mount" returns
/dev/sda1 on /windows type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096)
(it is ntfs partition)

thank you for your bug report, that's not a bug though but a design decision, only the user and media mounts are listed in GNOME

in ubiquity, when choosing manual partition,
I had ntfs with windows install (may be it was labeled 'windows', not sure),
first I have to select the partition type, and after I select ntfs *
ubiquity proposed me drop down for mount point -- and it was '/windows'

* strange that I have to select it, as most likely ntfs partitions
will remain ntfs (or other way I'd most probably delete them before)

issue remains in intrepid
would be much better if ubiquity would propose mount-points
/media/windows
/media/dos

instead of just
/windows (for NTFS)
/dos (for fat32)

Yea, I think this issue can be fixed with simple, 1 line (+translations)
patch against partman-basicfilesystems source package.

in debian/partman-basicfilesystems.templates file there are lines:

Template: partman-basicfilesystems/fat_mountpoint
Type: select
# :sl2:
__Choices: /dos, /windows, Enter manually, Do not mount it

This line should be changed to:

__Choices: /media/dos, /media/windows, Enter manually, Do not mount it

Also all translation files in /debian/po/ folder should be patched to
include /media before /dos and /windows

Jurgis, could you produce a patch against partman-basicfilesystems package
from Ubuntu 8.04 LT and Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid)?

Ubuntu developers, what about fixing this bug in 8.04.2 LTS version ?

I will fix this in Lithuanian Ubuntu 8.04 LT (Hardy) translation ASAP

I'm attaching a patch for Baltix 9.04 for distribution, which fixes default NTFS/FAT mount-point and ubiquity partitioning step width (see bug #364617). Patch should be applied against /var/cache/debconf/templates.dat and /var/lib/dpkg/info/ubiquity.templates
