ff3 can't open a second browser from command line

Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I launch firefox with -P default -a default.

Then I run the same command line a second time.

I get a popup claiming that firefox is running and not responding.

It should bring up a new window in the instance.

If I instead try -P default -a firefox, I don't get the right profile, though I do get the right results when I run it more than once.

This is definitely a duplicate

 tag likely-dup
 status incomplete

you have to use MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 firefox -P...

to not make firefox use a running instance

I don't mind it talking to an existing instance. What I object to is
that it FAILS to talk to an existing instance.

I also have this problem. On upgrade to 8.04 and ff3, I can no longer launch a new window of firefox in an existing instance. I don't want a separate instance... I want a separate window.

This is a different thing and you can tweak this behaviour in Edit ->
Preferences.

Since it's been a very long time since any additional info was added to this bug, I'm just checking to see if this is still an issue, and find out what additional work should be done on this bug.
