Bug Description

unless I click before OK to e.g. all. My steps are:

1. Click on a ZIP archived file in the default file browser.
    => It open's a dialog box.
2. Clicking Extract (and only this button) doesn't result anything.
3. Clicking on all files or selected files then clicking Extract works fine.

Hardy, 8.04. It used to work with Gusty, 7.10.

Thanks for your report, that works fine for me, clicking on the extract button it opens a filechooser dialog to select where it should be extracted, not confirming. Can you test the same with another new user created on your system? thanks.

The same problem exists in 8.04.
Is it possible that someone merges this bug, bug #175031 and bug #232307 since they address the same issue?

am seeing this bug on a clean Karmic install.

it's as if the file chooser dialogue is "inactive" in some way... if you click one of the buttons (a radio button, or check box), e.g. all files or selected files (even if it's the same one as is already selected, when you click "extract" it works fine.

But if I just double click a file in Nautilus, click extract icon, then extract button (bottom right ) in file chooser, nothing happens.

btw, a colleague with a similarly clean Karmic install, gets exactly what you'd expect... extract then extract performs the extraction.
Oh, it's File Roller 2.28.1 in both cases, btw

This bug may be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/80755
Please try the workaround of disabling the location entry box in the extract window, i.e. show the file path as path element buttons instead of allowing you to type the path at the top. If the location entry box is not there, the first input element of the extract window correctly becomes the file selector. If the box is visible, it is focused instead of the file selector, and selections do not take effect, and nothing is extracted.
