FIREFOX 3 BETA 5 LOCKS UP MY COMPUTER

FIREFOX 3 BETA 5 keeps locking up MY ENTIRE DAMM COMPUTER. No matter what websites I am I on, no matter if I click a URL link w/in a webpage OR type in manually a new webpage, IT LOCKS UP MY UP ENTIRE PC. This has happened numerous times.

It usually locks up just after the pointer changes to the round, spinning ("loading webpage") icon.

 I have Ubuntu 8.04 w/ALL THE UPDATES installed. This sort of thing USE TO (not) HAPPEN!!!

 What is going on Mozilla Organization?

I have a Sempron 2400+ PC w/a ATI Radeon 9600XT 256 MB video card.

I am sick and tired of this I am going uninstall the FireFox 3 Beta 5 and downgrade to a PREVIOUS version of Firefox or switch to Opera.

Easy Larry, Mozilla is aware of this bug and has a patch available already. No doubt you'll get an update for Firefox 3 in the near future, FF3 beta 6 will fix it anyway. In the meantime, you can use FF2 or you can apply Pjotr's workaround: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/215728/comments/63

Okay. Thanks for the advice. I figured that the Mozilla folks were aware of the problem and trying to get it fixed.
