Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy

evince 2.20.1-0ubuntu1

I've been unable to print .pdf files with images via CUPS. The print preview is fine. I can print to a (.ps) file, but the printer output is just
   PCL XL error
      Subsystem: KERNEL
      Error: MissingData
      Operator: ReadImage
      Position: 7

The .pdf files were all generated from MS Word. They print fine from Windows. Pages with no images are OK via CUPS. I can copy the images from evince and paste them into Openoffice.org Writer, and they print OK.

I haven't upgraded to hardy yet, but do so in a day or two, and let you know the result.

I've upgraded to hardy, and now the files print OK. Sorry I can't send the offending files as samples, but I received them from others, and contain confidential personal information.

I've just started experiencing this same problem in Karmic (32-bit), with Evince 2.28.1.

PDFs with no images print ok, and PDFs with or without images print ok from Okular. But printing PDFs with images from Evince spits out a single page with the same message as in the bug description.

Actually I found that printing lemon_jelly.pdf from http://live.gnome.org/Evince/Testing worked fine with Evince. So it seems that there is something specific about the images in the PDF attached to my last comment (and other PDFs I've tried) that causes printing to fail.
