Bug Description

I'm a Ubuntu Linux user, and love it.

However, I have lots of friends who use windows and arn't ready to switch to another OS.

Slowly introducing them to open source applications, such as Firefox, and Thunderbird, helps ease the transition.

It'd be great if this worked there too, as it would allow potential switchers and people who are forced to use Windows alike to benefit from this work.

A Windows port is in the works.

I don't get it. If we would make exact copies of Linux best programs for Windows, then what will sway people to Linux? And like Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek said - there is many similar tools for Windows, we should rather focus on bugs.

You could say the same thing about making the tool avalible on KDE
desktops: because the developer wants to.

I don't really buy into that. For me, switching to Linux was easier because I already used so many great OSS apps like Firefox, Thunderbird, and OO.o. Most people who switch to Linux will do so for either ideological reasons or the fact that it costs nothing... not because there's a really cool application Launcher that they can't use on Windows.

That said, is there any news on the Windows port? I've been stuck using XP for all of 30 minutes now, and I've lost count of the number of times I've hit Super+Space... ;)

Not sure why I haven't seen this before, but I've already done 99% of the work getting Do to run on windows. I've also made a wiki page describing exactly how to get the source, build with Visual Studio and run on windows: http://do.davebsd.com/wiki/Do_it_on_Windows

I'm more than willing to fix / clean up my branch and merge with lp:do (I think all of the required bits for a completely platform independent do-core are done) if someone is willing to help me with proper windows packaging. The only parts remaining for Do on windows are how to include and use our own GTK theme and an installer.
