Bug Description

Binary package hint: lirc

After updgrading to hardy, my ATI RF Wonder Remote wouldn't work with the configuration generated by debconf.

debconf generated a /etc/lircd.conf with basically one line:
include /usr/share/lirc/remotes/atiusb/lircd.conf.atilibusb

but irw wasn't showing any button pressses. I replaces lircd.conf with contents of /usr/share/lirc/remotes/atiusb/lircd.conf.atilibusb which related to my remote (ati_remote_wonder_rf), and it worked ok.

version of lirc is
lirc 0.8.3~pre1-0ubuntu7

I can confirm this. If I remove the entry for the MD8800 in lircd.conf.atilibusb, it'll work again.

Changed in lirc:
status: New → Confirmed

It also works if I just move the MD8800 entry to the end of the file. I'm not sure if that'll break the Medion remote, though.

When using an include statement in the /etc/lircd.conf file to point to a remote.conf file lirc will give an error

lircd: WARNING: config file contains no valid remote control definition

If I remove the MD8800 section in /usr/share/lirc/remotes/atiusb/lircd.conf.atilibusb, lirc works perfectly (I use the userspace module)

My error is:
---
lircd-0.8.3[11306]: config file contains no valid remote control definition
---

Which occurs when my /etc/lirc/lircd.conf contains:
----
#Callouts to two custom lircd.conf.* files generated by irrecord:
include /home/harvest/.lirc/lircd.conf.Hauppauge_Nova_T_500
include /home/harvest/.lirc/lircd.conf.Epson_EMP_TW700
----

But the error disappears, and irw and irsend functionality resumes, when I remove the include statements paste the contents of both custom lircd.conf.* files into /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

Henceforth, include is not fixed. Bug may not be a duplicate.

I'm going to submit a backported lirc with the final include support. Once that's done, see if that resolves the issue.

The newer lirc has landed by now, so if this still persists, can someone please reopen this issue and provide some fresher data?
