Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Step by step, to reproduce the bug I think it is:

Account configuration: Gmail, IMAP.

Configuration 1: Disk space: don't download messages bigger than 100kb.

Configuration 2: "Inbox" properties: working offline: select this folder to work offline.

---

Situation 1: Click on an inbox message bigger than 100kb (on-line mode) ... after few seconds, I see message with images (I think this is ok).

Situation 2: Go in "working offline" mode, and select download messages now (to view them in offline mode). Wait a few seconds, and now I'm in offline mode.

Situation 3: Click in other message smaller than 100kb, and I can see it. (it's ok)

Situation 4: Click in message with images bigger than 100kb (same message in situation 1), and I can't see it, with this spanish text y the body message section:
"El cuerpo de este mensaje no se ha descargado desde el servidor para leerlo sin conexión. Para leer este mensaje, debe volver a conectarse, elegir Sin conexión en el menú Archivo y luego elegir Trabajar con conexión. En el futuro, puede seleccionar qué mensajes o carpetas leer sin conexión. Para ello, elija Sin conexión en el menú Archivo y luego Sincronizar. Puede ajustar las preferencias de espacio en disco para evitar descargar mensajes largos."

>>> (I think this is not ok!; I have downloaded the message and saw it in online mode)

Situation 5: Note that then I go in "working online" mode, click other message smaller than 100kb (I can see it), and then I click in the message bigger than 100kb, and instantly I can see its content. (like in situation 1).

Note: I am translating text from spanish thunderbird to english so, these option's text aren't exact.

Let me see if i understand this. You expect to not view emails larger than 100kb. you mention you are clicking on inbox bigger than 100kb that is ok becuase the setting you set is per email not full inbox.
If im correct you are stating that the setting isnt working since you can download and view a message bigger than 100kb. Is this only offline or both and is this only with IMAP

I espected to view messages bigger than 100kb in offline mode if I already view them in online mode, since the folder was marked to use in offline mode.

Maybe I was confused with the intention of this option; several months have passed since I reported this bug, and I'm using the newer version 2.0.0.18.

The option's text now says "To save disk space, do not download for offline use". I think this "for offline use" wasn't there (but I don't sure).

The situation I find now is that this option responds as indicated.
