fail to install wims in hardy

Binary package hint: wims

When installing wims package on hardy 8.04 I obtain :
dpkg : erreur de traitement de wims (--configure) :
 le sous-processus post-installation script a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 1
dpkg : des problèmes de dépendances empêchent la configuration de wims-extra-all :
 wims-extra-all dépend de wims ; cependant :
 Le paquet wims n'est pas encore configuré.
dpkg : erreur de traitement de wims-extra-all (--configure) :
 problèmes de dépendances - laissé non configuré
Des erreurs ont été rencontrées pendant l'exécution :
 wims
 wims-extra-all

Trying to reconfigure wims I obtain :
/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: wims est cassé ou partiellement installé

And wims doesn't work !
(it works on another computer with gutsy)

Confirming this bug.

Identify (gd package) output changed between gutsy and hardy. This breaks the "makepieces" script.

Please replace script /var/lib/wims/public_html/modules/H3/algebra/spuzzle/makepieces with the one attached

and the script /var/lib/wims/public_html/modules/U2/algebra/qpuzzle/makepieces with this one.

Then run
aptitude install wims wims-extra-all

Tell us if this is ok.

Thanks a lot : it works !
But I have another problem : when checking support software (in site
maintenance) povray and maxima are unavailable
However I installed them (with aptitude) and I can use them (they are in the
path)

I close the bug concerning wims install. I'll open another bug report for the use of maxima in wims

Hi Michel,

Setting status to "In progress". No fix has been uploaded or is available upstream. You can learn more about bug statuses at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status.

Regarding your last comment, if the package Povray (and probably maxima) is installed *after* the installation of Wims, you need to run again the post-installation of wims : 'dpkg-reconfigure wims', in order to have the setup working.

This has been fixed in version 3.62-12 . Wims 3.62-13 is available in Intrepid. if you want to pursue a fix in Hardy
