Bug Description

I am using a Sony Vaio VGN-N250E laptop, running Gutsy Gibbon until 2 days ago.

Upon trying the live CD for 8.04 LTS my usb microsoft optical mouse stopped working properly in it's usb port (i would always plug it into the rearmost of the two usb ports). It started lagging behind the actual mouse movements so as to become unusable, without any change to the touch pad.

I installed 8.04 in spite of this error and then my mouse quit altogether. but only on that rearmost port, upon moving it to the forward port there have been no problems, and i have since used the rearmost port for a flash drive and an ipod without any difficulties.

I am having no trouble working around this bug, but I thought I should point it out.

I did not see an existing bug report with these symptoms, hopefully I didn't miss an existing report.

Please let me know of there are any logs etc. that i can post to assist if someone would like more info.

In bug 139209, suggestion was add "acpi=noirq pci=noacpi" to end of kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst. Also, add this to defoptions line so that it holds after kernel upgrade. Mouse now works OK.
