Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

when I open this url:
http://tigress.com/nobs/apache2-error-messages.html
with Firefox beta 5 under Hardy
Firefox starts loading the page, and suddenly, X crashes
(I have reproduced it several times on 2 different machines)

Are you running any firefox addons? I'm running a fresh install of firefox on hardy, and it doesn't crash on that page. If you could give a list of plugins I can see if I can reproduce this error.

I have just Web Developer Toolbar
and my colleague (who also gets this bug) has Web Developer Toolbar and FireBug

we both use the French Firefox version

Hi Eric,

Can you try to reproduce this bug with no loaded extensions? To do this, run Firefox from terminal with "firefox -safe-mode". Thanks.

Hi Sasa,

I have tried in safe mode, and it crashes just the same.

Can you try using a clean profile? Start Firefox from terminal using "firefox -ProfileManager", make a new profile, and then open the page using that profile. I can't reproduce this bug so far.

I have tried.

It does the same.

I will ask someone else to test it (now most of my colleagues have
upgraded to Hardy)

Can you provide further information about your machine? (nvidia or ati, type of video card, x86/AMD64)

And also try running a GDM backtrace to get some further information on the stack dump.

I have a Latitude D830..

I attach the gdm output but it didn't print the statcktrace. Basically everything crashes and X returns to the login screen!

Please follow the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs on how to obtain a backtrace as this is the only true way to know what is going on with the crash.
