I've a problem similar to that.
Trying to access the site of the Bank (https://www2.bancobrasil.com.br/aapf/principal.jsp), it keeps me pointing back to this login page, although all my information are correct. In contrary to the original reporter my browser doesn't crash nor freezes.

It works like a charm in Firefox 3.0b5 on Windows and with Konqueror on Hardy 8.04.
Using OpenJDK-6.

If you need any log or configuration information let me know.

I also have a similar problem. It happens during the stage in which the bank tries to recognize my computer, on Firefox 3.0b and on Epiphany as well.

It did not happen on Gutsy.

It may be a hard one to reproduce since not every one has an account on Banco do Brasil :P

antonio and manu please report seperate bugs as yours is not the same as the origiinal reports .Since yours is not crashing it could be a xulrunner bug. I doubt the original reports is a simple bug. Please see if you are able to make it crash with the extensions and plugins from his second post, either way we are gonna need a total of 3 differnet bugs for the 3 of you.
Brotosaurus, Can you please obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on Crashes at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs?action=show

Hello guys.
Just to let you know, my problem got solved after moving from OpenJDK to Sun's JRE.
After installing sun-java6-plugin and updating xulrunner-1.9-javaplugin.so alternative my access to the Banco do Brasil web site works like a charm.
Also, this happened after the last xulrunner upgrade (bringing it to version 1.9~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu4~8.04.0mt1).

Before moving to Sun's VM i tried OpenJDK with that version of Xul and got the same problem... (got kicked back to the login screen).

I believe the OpenJDK version of the plugin wasn't sending some information needed to authenticate. And so the site thought i was getting at the page for the first time.

John, do you still want me to report a new bug? Regarding the problem between xul and openjdk ?

Augusto, I am having exactly the same problem you were, but I didn't understand what you did to solve it. I am positive my problem started when I manually upgraded from FF3 Beta 5 to RC1. Could you please help me here with a more detailed walkthrough?

Nevermind. Problem solved the hard way. :) I went to Synaptic and removed any packages that had "openjdk" or "icedtea" in the name. :P

Brotosaurus, I just realized that after solving my initial problem (the same Augusto was having), I started having the same freezing problem you and manu are. Anyway, I managed to solve it by installing the "firefox-2" package. I still access the internet banking through FF3, but for some funny reason FF2 must be installed on my machine. :P

Augusto Santos (mkhaos7) wrote :

Hello Waldir, sorry for teh delay.
Glad you could find a way around the initial problem. Weird/funny that installing FF2 fixed your crashing/freezing problem.

I've been using FF3+ Sun JDK6 for early this month to access the Banco do Brasil website, and never ever experinced a single hang.
MAYBE installing FF2 did some upgrades to some configuration files that fixed your problems. Would you try uninstalling the firefox-2 package and see if the freezes still occur ?

Antonio,

after further testing, I realized that the problem was actually with the sun.java6.plugin package. I uninstalled it (though I left sun-java6-bin and -jre untouched, for other apps need it) and downgraded to sun.java5.plugin. I have also uninstalled firefox-2 just to unclutter. So far this has solved half my problems with Java (www.bb.com.br works fine, but the java stock graphs I use at www.agorainvest.com.br often don't). Anyway, I'm going to keep investigating this issue and will report any new information here.

AFAIK "Report a broken web site" is suposed to be used when Firefox can't render the page correctly.
But in this case this is not a problem with Firefox, but with the OpenJDK plugin or even with the interface between it and XUL/Firefox.
This is specially true because: 1) after changing the JVM the problem is gone; 2) For me this problem does not exist when using the Beta 5 version of FF downloaded from Mozilla.

IMHO this bug should not be marked as invalid.

Yeap... as i thought, no errors when using the Sun plugin.
The complaining line on the file i reported earlier is 413.

I dunno exactly how this works between JS and the Applet, but maybe the OpenJDK plugin isn't exporting some functions it should...
Without this function being executed probably my password is being sent as an empty string, and the server simple ignores it.
Then again, i'm just guessing... :)

I still think this is a FF3-related bug. I have the RC1 version (installed via Synaptic) and the final version (installed via the Mozilla website on Download Day). After reinstalling Java 6 (with version 5 this problem won't happen), the RC1 version still crashes and the final one does not.

Just before crashing, the status bar always gives one of the two following messages:
- Applet tclID notinited
- Applet tclID bailed

I know those are Java-related messages, but the fact that they only appear on RC1 intrigued me.

I had this problem in Ubuntu and Debian, using the new Firefox 3. In these two systems, I had sun-java6-XXX packages installed and IcedTea or OpenJDK were uninstalled. Well, in Ubuntu, with Firefox 2 and sun-java6-plugin, I had no problems to access the site, while in Firefox 3 with the same plugin the error appears. I didn't tested with Firefox 2 in Debian, but with Firefox 3 the same error occurs.
As a temporary solution for this problem, I uninstalled the sun-java6-plugin package from Synaptic and installed the sun-java5-plugin, sun-java5-jre and sun-java5-bin packages. The 5 and 6 versions can coexist in the same system without problems (I didn't see any, until now), and with sun-java5-plugin Firefox 3 can access this site without any problems. In short, simply try to uninstall sun-java6-plugin and install sun-java5-plugin with all its dependencies instead. Worked for me.

Hello friends!

Recently I had this error too. But, I solved my problem. I don't know if it will be right for you or it will solve all the problems, but was simple:

When I accessed BB site, the tclID hangs up my notebook. I use Fedora 9 64, Firefox 3 i386, cause the 64 bits java plugin don't exist (Sun says that 64 is unstable and don't distribute 64 bits version yet). I don't use OpenJDK.

The question I had looked was another java applications runs perfectly, but BB site hangs sometimes and sometimes it runs fine.

I solved my problem remaking kdump configuration. Kdump wasn't starting, and it displayed errors when I updated my system. Then, I runed system-config-kdump and recreated the configuration, I used 128mb for kdump.

Just restarted the notebook and that error was fixed. I don't get it no more.

I hope my tip can help you friends.

Thanks
Jorge Henrique
