The logs look like the upgrade itself went fine, did that crashreport pop up during the upgrade or did you find it after the reboot into the new system? Does you /var/crash directory contains any files?

Hi, I have similar problem upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 the install crash.

Attach the /var/crash/update-manager.0.crash (but it's empty)

Any comment on this problem? Would I need to remove some packages? Should I try an unpgrade using network instead of the DVD?

This looks like its a duplicate of a problem with audacious-plugins-extra. Could you please check if removing audacious and its plugins helps and fixes the upgrade issue?

Michael, all is good. Ended doinga partial upgrade and now I am on 8.04.... its been working fine..

Same symptom on upgrade 8.04LTS => 8.10.
This was secondary failure after a 'apt-listbugs' Bug#283166
