Bug Description
Greetings,
I was installing on a computer that had /dev/hdc set up with a Maxstor 17GB hard
drive on IDE 1, I was trying to upgrade from a copy of Knoppix existing (and
happly dual booting) on the drive. The breezy install could find the Maxstor,
but my only option was to autopartition the beast and knock out all the
customer's data on all the partitions. Thus I could not continue with the
installation.
Interestingly enough, when I flipped out of the whiptail install to another
console and ran fdisk, I could see the partitions on IDE 1 /dev/hdc, so I know
they are there and this is a partition manager issue. The ticket here is to
test the partition manager in Breezy on other than IDE 0, and to test manual
partitioning.
Thanks and...
Kindest Regards,
Paul Flint

One question: does fdisk show a "W95 Extended" partition on /dev/hdc? (For
that matter, can you attach/include the fdisk output?)
I (and others) have had a similar problem, and I think it's because partman
doesn't understand the "W95 Extended" partition type. But maybe it's more
specific than that (e.g., my drive also was a Maxtor, formatted with the Maxtor
formatting tool in 2000 or so).
