There is horizontal flicker in both monitors, as if there are densely horizontal highlights. Additionally, there is one darker horizontal line moving slowly from bottom to top in the main monitor, and one moving from top to bottom in the secondary monitor. Secondary monitor has worse flickering. I think at least the main screen was better with Dapper, also direct rendering was shown glxinfo, but xorg.conf was different, I guess.

when using the automatically detected xorg.conf of clean install. I guess the video mode then is "1024x768@85" and there is no higher resolution available in display settings of Xubuntu even though the hardware would be capable of higher resolution. I don't see the flickering in the main screen now. On the other hand, the second screen looks even more horrifying with this setting. (I used displayconfig-gtk first to get draft for doing the xorg.conf given in the first comment.)

Now I get 1600x1200@75Hz by the same http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13930600/xorg.conf and still direct rendering works according to glxinfo. I can also change mode in Display settings of Xubuntu Hardy. This is for the primary head (that is located further away from the graphics card's AGP connectors. The other head is off after splash screen (which works perfectly) and I have no idea how to setup the second head. Command xrandr shows only one output. Should I report a separate bug about that?

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
