Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Bug in Amarok 1.4.9.1 for hardy beta.

For some reason the neat little graph of sound levels against frequencies that ought to be discretely tucked under the amarok playlist has become a long bar of black with red, white and blue patterns appearing on it. These patterns have some similarity to the patterns that the frequency-level graph is supposed to display.

The black rectangle sits on top of all other windows on the desktop, whether they be amarok windows or not. It only disappears when Amarok is terminated.

I first noticed this bug yesterday. It now reappears even after a reboot.

It looks like the black bar is supposed to be a 3-D version of the frequency-level graph in which the graph itself rotates. Even if this did work properly it would still be a very distracting piece of eye candy. There appears to be no way to turn it off even if it did work. This feature should be removed until it is fixed and only be returned as an option that can be easily disabled.

The current version of Amarok (2.0.1.1) does not have visualizations at all due to the rewrite. So that sorta fixes this bug. (Although I suppose now we'll have to file a wishlist bug for the reimplementation of visualizations, which the Amarok team does plan to do btw)
