Bug Description

Hardware:
Hewlett Packard d530 CMT
Pentium 4 ~3Ghz
512MB RAM
GeForce 6800 video card

Problem:
After installing Mythbuntu 8.04 Beta, to my hard drive, I found that the version that was installed was the LiveCD version, not the normal hard-drive-installed version. The desktop was a hybrid of the LiveCD and installed versions (ie, it had the normal Mythbuntu logo wallpaper, but included desktop icons for Install and LiveCD Frontend). The Multimedia menu included a listing for LiveCD Frontend, rather than the normal MythTV Frontend. When I attempted to update the system, it acted like it was performing a distribution upgrade, which completed with several errors (sorry, I do not have any of the logs).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download Mythbuntu 8.04 Beta and burn ISO to CD.
2. Restart computer with CD in drive.
3. Select "Install Mythbuntu..." from menu (ie, the install option, not the LiveCD option).
4. Complete installation. I chose Advanced Setup, installed the Frontend Only, and installed the latest Nvidia non-free drivers, no composite/S-video output. Installation seems to proceed as normal, but immediately upon completion the LiveCD desktop appears.

I reproduced this error twice using the above steps.

Steps to Remedy:
1. Start the computer with the Mythbuntu 8.04 Beta CD in drive.
2. Select the LiveCD option from the menu.
3. Once the LiveCD environment has loaded, double-click the Install icon on the Desktop.
4. Complete installation as normal.

After encountering this bug in two separate installs, I used the above steps to remedy the situation. The system now runs perfectly with no major issues.

Yes, I did select VNC during install. I didn't mean to create a duplicate bug, but my issue seemed to be different from the other VNC-related installation bugs I found here, so I thought I'd submit it anyway.

It may or may not be worth noting that I ended up installing from the LiveCD desktop (as mentioned in "Steps to Remedy" above), and I selected VNC in that installation. The system installed correctly, and everything seems to be working fine now.

To see the fix "proper" fix, update ubiquity before running the install on a live disk, or wait for the RC this week.
