Installer does not warn about partitions too small

Bug Description

On my second try of installing Breezy Preview (also see bug 21549), I prepared
my drive to look like the following:

/dev/hda1: 40 GB installation of Hoary
/dev/hda2: 2.4 GB unpartitioned space

The installer decided to devide the 2.4 GB into

/dev/hda2: 2.27 GB installation of Breezy
/dev/hda3 + /dev/hda5: 0,13 GB Swap

The installer did NOT warn me that the swap partition would be too small to use
for Hibernation (I've got 1.2 GB of RAM).

I decided to do the partitioning myself and reserved 1.2 GB for Breezy, 1.2 GB
for Swap, not knowing that 1.2 GB are to small for even the basic Breezy
installation.

Again, the installer did NOT warn me that the Breezy partition would be to small
to install, let alone do some serious work on it.

I have experienced this same problem in dapper flight 2. Except that 2.1GB was
too small of a root partition and I created the partition by telling the
installer to resize another partition. I am on amd64.

Can this be marked "wontfix" since it's for Breezy which is no longer supported?

I can confirm that this is still an issue in gutsy. This bug should not be closed.
I tried to install gutsy on a 16MB / and 8MB swap and it didn't warn me

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Ubiquity, the live cd installer, does display a warning in intrepid, although it does let you continue if you insist on it. Can somebody try with the alternative installer?

I did a test install (in virtualbox but that shouldn't effect this issue) with the alternate intrepid Alpha-6 image and it still does not provide a warning when installing in a small partition. I attempted to install in a 100MB root with 8MB of swap. It gave no warning and then failed while unpacking the bootstrap image. A screenshot is attached.

So this is still a bug in Intrepid on the alternate disk side.
