hald fails to start on kernel 2.6.24-15-generic

Bug Description

Running on Ubuntu hardy.
First sign of the bug is gnome saying that it "Failed to initialise HAL" running hald under gdb reveals that the hal socket is in use (or hal could not bind to it for some other reason)

Using 2.6.24-14 kernel seems to be a fair workaround for this problem.

Hi, this bug has been reported a few times. To make sure that it's a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/+bug/212271 can you please post the output of dmesg. Do you have a video capture card on your machine? Thanks

Just confirming that this bug is a duplicate based on the fact I use the same kernel module as referenced in that bug.
