speech dispatcher blocks audio device

Binary package hint: speech-dispatcher

It seems like speech dispatcher is using alsa with the default espeak module.
Per-session pulseaudio refuses to initialize the main sound device because speech-dispatcher opens a handle to it during bootup.

Shouldn't the EspeakAudioOutputMethod be "pulse"?

This bug was fixed in the package speech-dispatcher - 0.6.6-0ubuntu8

  * Disable speech-dispatcher from starting at system boot. This ensures that
    users using another speech system such as gnome-speech, or users using
    pulseaudio, will still be able to use speech/pulseaudio after a system
