Can you please give us a few more websites this happens on and hopfully others can reproduce this.

I don't find other site with this problem, sorry.

About www.cyberpresse.ca , It's maybe a problem of zoom? Picture are weird
and the page is larger than normal. It's maybe a BAD CONSTRUCTED website.
In firefox 2.x *windows*, I don't have this problem, in firefox 2.x linux,
it's a little bit better than 3.x, but it's slow too.

If I find other website, I'll keep you in touch.

I've got double boot so I can compare Windows XP/ Firefox with Ubuntu / firefox. Ubuntu/firefox is incredibly slow compared to XP/firefox.
It's really a pity to use ubuntu/firefox

we cannot keep these kind of generic bugs open. we have 3 main
performance issues which upstream is trying to fix:

 * rendering performance problems for tiled backgrounds using xdrivers
 with XAA (workaround try EXA accellmethod)

 * rendering performance problems for fixed elements when scrolling
 (no workaround atm ... using EXA might help a bit though)

 * rendering performance problems for elements with borders.

however, this bug is too generic to associate with any of those and
thus ...

 status invalid
