Binary package hint: update-manager
lvm2 was removed as part of a dapper -> hardy do-release-upgrade which is sort of unfortunate :-)

Note that it's kicking out lvm2 to keep lvm-common (they conflict), which is obsolete. This leaves lvm-common cruft around, including broken initramfs hooks (since they reference binaries from lvm2)...
