Bug Description

I am running hardy beta 64 bit for testing but can't get online with static ips. I can get online wired in roaming mode but on a different netowrk can't get online with static ips. Network setting are confirmed (/etc/networking/onterfaces) DNS is set properly. Once the static IP is entered and the network service restarted (/etc/init.d/networking restart) I can even ping my own interface eth0. I have no idea what this is. Same machine with gutsy and feisty, same settings - no problems.

This is a big problem as I can't download any bug fixes or go online for help. I write this from a different machine with Gutsy on the same network.

The problem is that Hardy doesn't fire up eth0 automatically.
