Grub installation fails when using Software RAID

Installation using the i386 alternate CD 8.04 Beta fails.
I have seen this reported for alpha versions of Hardy Heron, but not the beta version.
Dell Precision 390n, 2 x 80GB WD hard drives, SATA as IDE in BIOS.
sda1 + sdb1, 76GB md0 -- sda5 + sdb5, 4GB md1
I chose reiserfs mounted at "/" as the file system after creating the Linux raid setup. / = md0, swap = md1
By forcing the install through to the end & rebooting, the machine boots to a grub prompt.
There is no /boot/grub folder or any configuration files installed/created.
Trying to find grub configuration files from the grub prompt leads to error 15.
I was unable to get past this roadblock using the alternative CD. I ended up installing HH on one drive & then creating the RAID1 array afterwards using:
