Bug Description

Hi,

ubuntu 24.04 + nautilus 46

in Nautilus « main menu » the keyboard-shortcuts list [ ctrl + ? ] reads F9 as a way to hide / unhide side panel.

I wish it were true, but it's no longer since 23.04 where F9 was disabled upstream ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2020009 )

Though there was a button~icon at the bottom of window for hiding / unhiding side panel.

Now this also seems gone.

So now only way to hide side pane is to adjust width of Nautilus window.
But how now to achieve this → https://launchpadlibrarian.net/666797838/nautilus_side_by_side.png ?

Hiding side pane is very convenient when needing to drag and drop elements between two ( or more ) open windows of nautilus.

It can ease task for visually impaired people and people with unsure or slow hand moves.

Could F9 shortcut or dedicated button-icon ( or both ) make a comeback in Ubuntu ?

It still shows and hides the sidebar, but only in collapsed mode.

Then « only in collapsed mode » is missing in the help.

And what about the icon / button that happened to exist ?

At first sight and default non-collapsed mode, hide panel looks like gone away from Nautilus.
