anjuta "find & replace" causes x server crash

Bug Description

I tried opening some files in Anjuta (408 to be precise) in order to use the "find & replace" feature. The feature works and returns a message with the number of operations performed, but after that Anjuta freezes and causes the x-server to crash ---i.e., I find myself in front of the login screen.

the xorg server crashing is an xorg issue, whatever anjuta is doing it should not crash

Can you reproduce the problem (by letting the xserver crash), then log in again and attach the following file, please?
1) /var/log/Xorg.0.log
2) /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
3) /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Well, I reported the bug four months ago, and it seems that Xorg's behavior changed somehow since then. Now, instead of just crashing, it freezed (i.e., the mouse kept working, but clicking anywhere on the screen had no effect)... After 10 minutes of no response, I restarted the computer.

Hi jwmwalrus,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

Hi,

I haven't needed a "find and replace in multiple files" feature
lately, so it wasn't really an issue. But I just checked (i.e.,
opened around 400 source files in anjuta and applied find and replace
in all open buffers) and things went OK, with no anjuta freeze and no
x-server crash.

My Ubuntu version is 8.04 (kernel 2.6.24-21)... I cannot help you
testing this issue in the beta of Intrepid, at this time ---the
network and video cards issues make it unusable.

Alright, thanks, we'll assume the issue is gone then and close out the bug. If it occurs again, please reopen.
